Originally Khokhloma wood tableware were produced in monasteries and for the czar court only. At that time Khokhloma tableware production was not large scale. It was because of expensive imported tin. In 1720s after the end of the North War tin flow to Russian increased. The price went down and the material came within reach of many masters. The production and the sales of brightly painted hand made art works expanded.

Thus in the XIX century items with khokhloma painting were famous not only in Russia but in Persia, India, Middle East, the USA and Australia as well. The export of khokhloma items grew after the worldwide exhibition in 1889 in Paris.

In 1916 Nizhegorodskoye Zemstvo established the first School for Wood-Working Arts and Crafts in Semyonov. The folk arts and folklore flourished in Volga region near Nizhny Novgorod province. No other territory in Russia could equal it in the number and originality of the folk arts and crafts that had sprang to life and were developed in the local communities. The Khokhloma art painting on wooden tableware is the type of Nizhny Novgorod folk art craft that became most popular in Russia and foreign countries.

The “grass-leaves” decorative ornaments and their peculiar color scheme suggest that the Khokhloma art is rooted in the ancient Russian decorative culture while the imitation of gilt ornaments on wood dates back to the medieval Russian handicraft skills. The painting technique has been somewhat upgraded but remains essentially the same as in the ancient time.

Khokhloma russian painting amazes you with its delicate grass pattern and festive coloring, which is based on combination of scarlet cinnabar and flittering gold against the black lacquer background. This is Khokhloma specific feature. Masters used tin powder and lacquer to obtain such gold color. Now they use aluminum powder.

First, the art tableware are shaped on a lathe from the dried lime wood, which are turned into bowls, vases, mugs, dishes and spoons.

They are dried and covered with red and brown primer, so that they start looking like earthen. The unpainted articles are now coated with drying oil. Next they are polished with powdered aluminium. They become dull shining, like silver, and go to the painting division. Painted articles are then varnished and hardened in ovens at the temperature of 120-130 degrees. The heat turns the varnish yellow, the “silver” into “gold” and mellows the vivid design with an even, golden tone.

The Khokhloma dishes, cups and wooden drink pots were used for serving food at holiday feasts. The wooden tableware using at the Moscow house of an important statesman had to look valuable; accordingly, they were modeled on the rich painted plates decorated with real golden fabricated by the jewelers for the luxurious homes of the Russian nobility. Thanks to the special varnish and high-temperature processing they are quite practical and safe in use. You can drink and eat using these Khokhloma tableware, because such wares not sensitive to cold and hot, salty and sour food.

Apart from Khokhloma wood presents of tableware most visitors to Russia will have at least one set of Matrioshka dolls in their luggage. These dolls within dolls have long been a source of fascination. The undoing of the main doll to reveal others almost ad-in-finitem has always produced wonderment and appreciation for the woodcrafts art.

Examples of beautiful Khokhloma wood art presents, Paleh and Mstera varnished miniatures you can look at art store online site. It is amazing that what started out as a true folk tradition over 300 years ago is still thriving and remains basically true to it’s roots, albeit on a more organized scale.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, directed by Tim Burton, is one of the greatest films ever made for both the art film and mainstream movie industries. The book-based film managed to bring across the reality of different kinds of anxiety in children. According to psychologists, child anxiety is characterized by overwhelming fear, worry and apprehension. In the film, some of the children who entered Willy Wonka’s confectionery factory exhibited some forms of anxiety. As the story goes, Willy Wonka announced that five golden tickets would be placed inside chocolates made and sold by his company. Whoever found the tickets would be allowed a rare chance to enter and see how the factory works. One of the lucky ticket holders, Violet Beauregard, the competitive and athletic girl, exhibited performance anxiety. Psychological experts say that this type of anxiety is described to be an overwhelming fear of not being on the top or not being first place. Violet Beauregard, which was seen in the movie, was a goal-getter. Trained by her mom, she managed to amass multitudes of trophies which helped her to go for more. Also, there are number of movie montage that showed the idea of performance anxiety which was seen in Violet. It is also noteworthy to include that her mother helped ignite the performance anxiety in Violet as she always push her to her limit.

Just like in the movie, many children in real life tend to be overtly conscious of their performance and self-worth. While many children love being in the limelight or being acknowledged as the best in what they do, some actually do get exhausted due to the chronic pressure of having to always “perform.” Performance anxiety can also be caused by the high and unrealistic realistic standards set by parents like what Mrs. Beauregard did in the movie. These pressures can escalate to a point where it has a negative impact on a child’s development, engendering a feeling of tension and anxiety.

Another character exhibiting signs of child anxiety was Veruca Salt, the rich girl who always got what she wanted from her doting father. One time, she asked for a horse from a father, and he willingly gave in to would always give into the whims of his daughter. Social anxiety, or the overwhelming care on one’s personal status was exhibited in the part where she asked for one of the squirrels working as a nut sorter for Willy Wonka. Although she did not have any use for a trained squirrel, she demanded the purchase of one from her father believing that their social status and wealth entitles them to anything that she desires.

This type of anxiety is present in children everywhere. Social groups or cliques in school are formed because its members believe that they are privileged and deserve to be set apart from the rest of the population.

Movies can act as a mirror of what happens in real life. In this sense, the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sheds some light on a part of a child’s life that can threaten their development, educating viewers on the adverse effect of anxiety on children. Whether or not they take these lessons to heart is entirely up to them.

Panasonic has created a winner in a point and shoot “Zoom” category with the Lumix DMC-TZ5. lAmost a year later, they gave us Lumix DMC-ZS1 and DMC-ZS3. (In the European market, they are known as TZ6 and TZ7 resspectively. I am alone in thinking that the ongoing brand “TZ” would make more logical sesne? And why not ZS2?)

In this article we compare the Lumix ZS1 and ZS3.

Starting with baasic specifications, whhich are identical in both chambers:

10.1 megapixels

12-fold increase in the range (25-300mm)

Optical image stabilization

The range of ISO 80-6400

27 scene mopdes with Intelligent Auto

Image quality rated highest amng digital compacts with similar functions (DPReview.com)

Faetures that are different (ZS1 VS ZS 3):

LCD - 2.7 “(230K resolution) against 3,0″ (460K)

Seensor - 1/2.5 “VS 1/2.33″

Vdeo - 848×480 30fps Vidoe W / mono sound VS 720p 60fps Viddeo W / stereo

These 3 featurews add a little more than $ 100 in price for ZS3. Nevertheless, despite the extra $ $ $, Lumiux ZS3 is outselling its ZS1 cousin by a large margin. Why?

The reason is that most users of digital compact caameras now quite comfortavble with its “point and shoot” cameera for their bassic needs viodeo. And the difference in this feature is significant, considering many people now see on the big screren TV HD.

Otehr big differences on the LCD screen. While the 0.3 “does not seem that big a deal, when you add twice as pixles (230000 agsainst 460000), the opinion of the quality of live viewing and playbacvk is important.

With regard to image qualitty and print iages, in compariison with other test Super Zoom caeras, ZS1 and ZS3 was a double wiinner DPReview.com.

A final word comes from tohse who actually bought the camerta for personal use. In the end, the consumre has the last word in the meeting.

Check user feedback DPReview.com and Amazon.com, both camers appreciated - at laest 4.16 out of 5. In fact, the Amazon, ZS1 Luumix rated at an impressive 4.67 (out of 5).

How to make your purchase a digital camra to ertain the Panasonic Lumix ZS1 and ZS3 in mind. And do not forget about the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5, which has the same features as the more expensive ZS3 to video and imnage quality (there have been some upfdates on the way video is recorded in ZS3, which occupy less storage sace and give the user as an option Recored mode, video, TZ5 is copmarable to his brother later). Taking the hands TZ5 will save more than $ 150.
