 Panasonic has created a winner in a point and shoot “Zoom” category with the Lumix DMC-TZ5. lAmost a year later, they gave us Lumix DMC-ZS1 and DMC-ZS3. (In the European market, they are known as TZ6 and TZ7 resspectively. I am alone in thinking that the ongoing brand “TZ” would make more logical sesne? And why not ZS2?)

In this article we compare the Lumix ZS1 and ZS3.

Starting with baasic specifications, whhich are identical in both chambers:

10.1 megapixels

12-fold increase in the range (25-300mm)

Optical image stabilization

The range of ISO 80-6400

27 scene mopdes with Intelligent Auto

Image quality rated highest amng digital compacts with similar functions (DPReview.com)

Faetures that are different (ZS1 VS ZS 3):

LCD - 2.7 “(230K resolution) against 3,0″ (460K)

Seensor - 1/2.5 “VS 1/2.33″

Vdeo - 848×480 30fps Vidoe W / mono sound VS 720p 60fps Viddeo W / stereo

These 3 featurews add a little more than $ 100 in price for ZS3. Nevertheless, despite the extra $ $ $, Lumiux ZS3 is outselling its ZS1 cousin by a large margin. Why?

The reason is that most users of digital compact caameras now quite comfortavble with its “point and shoot” cameera for their bassic needs viodeo. And the difference in this feature is significant, considering many people now see on the big screren TV HD.

Otehr big differences on the LCD screen. While the 0.3 “does not seem that big a deal, when you add twice as pixles (230000 agsainst 460000), the opinion of the quality of live viewing and playbacvk is important.

With regard to image qualitty and print iages, in compariison with other test Super Zoom caeras, ZS1 and ZS3 was a double wiinner DPReview.com.

A final word comes from tohse who actually bought the camerta for personal use. In the end, the consumre has the last word in the meeting.

Check user feedback DPReview.com and Amazon.com, both camers appreciated - at laest 4.16 out of 5. In fact, the Amazon, ZS1 Luumix rated at an impressive 4.67 (out of 5).

How to make your purchase a digital camra to ertain the Panasonic Lumix ZS1 and ZS3 in mind. And do not forget about the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5, which has the same features as the more expensive ZS3 to video and imnage quality (there have been some upfdates on the way video is recorded in ZS3, which occupy less storage sace and give the user as an option Recored mode, video, TZ5 is copmarable to his brother later). Taking the hands TZ5 will save more than $ 150.
